Keesal Young & Logan and Cassels Brock & Blackwell select TimeKM™ for improved time and knowledge capture

Montreal October 24, 2001 PensEra Knowledge Technologies Inc. announces that the California-based law firm of Keesal Young & Logan, and the Toronto, Canada-based law firm of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP have selected TimeKM™ for immediate installation in their firms. TimeKM is a browser-based time tracking and knowledge management system designed specifically for the legal profession. Both firms have acquired TimeKM licenses for their lawyers and secretaries, so all members can collaborate on preparation of time entries and knowledge notes.

In addition to time tracking, Keesal Young & Logan (KYL) plans to use the knowledge management features of TimeKM to share notes and coordinate business development opportunities, activities and prospects. The firm had previously spent a lot of time and effort gathering and sharing this information by circulating documents, e-mails and reports. Working with PensEra and using PensEra's KM Enterprise Toolkit, the firm is building an interactive process to identify and rate opportunities, so attorneys can quickly note client development activity when they record time. By embedding business development in the time entry process, KYL expects greater participation and more collaborative business development. The resulting opportunity database will fuel new marketing initiatives for aggressive client development.

Many of the lawyers at Cassels Brock are avid users of mobile PDA's, such as Palm(tm) and Blackberry(tm). Cassels Brock plans to install PensEra's SoloConnect for TimeKM to allow its lawyers to capture time or knowledge notes from these devices, whenever and wherever they choose. An attorney can use the standard notepad or calendar features of these devices to jot down notes, tasks or activities. There is no separate PDA software to install and nothing new to learn. However, when the attorney synchronizes the mobile device with Microsoft Outlook, SoloConnect automatically converts these notes and appointments into time entries for quick completion in TimeKM and submission to the firm's Elite billing system.
